​IDPs Welfare: Gov. Shettima hosts Chambas, other senior UN officials

Governor Kashim on Friday held a closed meeting with Mr. Mohamed Ibn Chambas, the Special Representative of the Secretary-General and Head of United Nations Office for West Africa and the Sahel (UNOWAS) who led a high powered delegation of United Nations representatives to meet Shettima in Abuja with their discussions focusing on ways to continually improve the welfare of internally displaced persons in formal and satellite camps across Borno. 

The meeting was attended by the United Nations Resident Humanitarian Coordinator & United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) Resident Representative in Nigeria, Edward Kallon, the United Nations Deputy Humanitarian Coordinator in Nigeria, Peter Lundberg, United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF) Representative in Nigeria, Mohamed M.M. Fall amongst other stakeholders.

Though the press wasn’t briefed on outcome, there was indication the meeting was positive given the commitment shared by Governor Shettima and his guests from the UN in managing the humanitarian situation in Borno and other parts of Nigeria.
