If you have absolutely no interest in hitting the gym but still wanna lose belly fat – you’re going to like this answer.
A couple of studies were brought to my attention recently. One done at the University of Texas — and another done at the University of Oklahoma. Both show that you can’t outwork a crappy diet.
In the University of Texas study, researchers studied two groups of sedentary people. The first group of 50 stayed sedentary for the entire 12-week study.
The second group of 50 was the exercise group. This group worked with a trainer to do 3 strength and 2 interval training sessions per week, about 5 total hours of exercise.
Both groups were told to keep their diets the same. What did the researchers find?
Well, although the exercise group did lose statistically more fat than the control group, the total amount of fat the exercisers lost was just 1 and ½ pounds.
So, in this study, if these 50 people would have hired personal trainers, they would have spent about 60 hours and 3 to 4 thousand dollars to lose a pathetic 1 and 1/2 pounds of fat.
Might as well flush your money down the toilet.
The same type of study was done at the University of Oklahoma. Same parameters with one group exercising and one group not, neither group changing their diet much… and the exact same results.
People worked hard, but didn’t really change their bodies.
Moral of the story:
If you are trying to lose weight, work on healthy eating habits first, second and third. After you nail that, then sign up for a gym membership.
