NYSC DG urges officers to uphold public service rules


State Coordinators and Human Resource Management Officers in NYSC have been urged to abide by Public Service and Extant Rules while discharging their statutory responsibilities.

The Director-General, Brigadier General Suleiman Kazaure gave this charge today in Keffi, while declaring open the 2018 Human Resource Management Schedule Officers and State Coordinators Workshop.

He said the success of any organization largely depends on the quality of its human resources which is saddled with a wide range of responsibilities including staff recruitment, promotion, training and development, posting, industrial relations, retirement and other staff welfare matters.

Kazaure, whose address was read at the workshop by the Director, Procurement, Mr Yakubu Jok, said the aim of the workshop was to equip participants with the requisite skills for better performance.

He added that Human Resource Management department plays the central role of providing the required personnel for the implementation of NYSC policies through its four cardinal programmes.

The Director-General said the efficiency of every workforce depends on regular training which would keep them abreast of modern trends in Human Resource Management.

‘Management is committed to the training and re-training of officers at all levels for higher productivity and the computerization of the personnel records which is critical to the reorganization of the human management system in the Scheme’, General Kazaure said.

He urged the workshop participants to participate actively in order to understand their roles in personnel management.

The Director, Human Resource Management department, Alhaji Abdulrasaq Salawu, in his address urged the participants to use the knowledge acquired from the workshop to ensure effective service delivery in various NYSC formations.

The 4 day workshop with the theme; ‘The Role of Human Resource Managers towards Effective Service Delivery’, was organized for State Coordinators and Human Resource Management Officers in the 36 State Secretariats across the federation including the FCT.
