Host country Russia has embraced a remarkable victory after beating Saudi Arabia in the opening match of the 2018 FIFA world cup in Russia.
Russia beat Saudi Arabia by 5 goals to 0 with an early goal by Gazinskly at the 12 minute of the game. Cheryshev scored the second goal at the 43rd minute extending Russia’s margin.
The second half of the game seemed worse for the Saudi Arabians following a third goal by Dzyuba at the 71st minute.
Cheryshev scored his second goal at the 91st minute placing Russia 4 goals ahead and making Cheryshev the highest goal scorer of the tournament at the moment.
Just before the final whistle, Golovin scored at the 94th minute of the game.
Gazinskiy is the first player to score with the first shot on target at a World Cup tournament since Germany’s Philipp Lahm in 2006.
