Lagos High Court sitting in Ikeja yesterday adjourned further, the trial of suspected kidnapper, Chukwudumeme Onwuamadike, aka Evans, and his alleged gang till March 2.

The court explained that the adjournment was for two reasons.
One was that Okwuchukwu Nwachukwu, a co-defendant of Evans, had yet to secure legal representation.

Also, hearing on a bail application filed by another suspect, Victor Chukwunonso Aduba charged alongside the kidnapper, had to be shifted.

Anselm Dunu, the brother of Mr Donatius Dunu, a kidnap victim, was scheduled to be cross-examined by the defence counsel over his earlier evidence before the court.

He was, however, not fully cross-examined by the defence because of the absence of Nwachukwu’s lawyer.

Justice Hakeem Oshodi, the presiding judge enquired from Nwachukwu (the fourth defendant), why he did not have legal representation.

“My Lord, we are still making arrangements for a lawyer,” he said.
In her reaction, Ms Titilayo Shitta-Bey, state Director of Public Prosecution, noted that the defendants were trying to delay proceedings.
