Thai Rice companies will be returning to Nigeria to kick off operation.
The Minister for Information Alhaji Lai Muhammed on Sunday, March 4, said the Federal Government is making moves to improve the production of rice
According to reports , the Minister while speaking during his visit to Kebbi said that the Federal government has successfully partnered with foreign stakeholders, especially Thailand to achieve this project.
“Meanwhile, Thai rice companies seek to co-operate with the Nigerian government to allow their exportation and rice processing services in Nigeria, where they will set up rice companies.”
Reacting on the reason why the companies would arrive in Nigeria, Minister Lai Lai said this was in line with the federal government’s refusal to import rice, thereby reducing rice production from Thailand to 90 percent.
The minister said Nigeria had reduced imports of rice to 20,000 from 644,000 in subsequent years.
