Youth corper killed by suspected armed robbers in Imo state

A youth corper identified as Uwaoma has been killed by suspected armed robbers in Imo state.

According to an eyewitness identified as MacDonald, who spoke to NGHUBS, the 23 years old corpers who was serving in Ondo state came to Owerri to visit his mum when the ugly incident happened.

He added that the incident happened around 8.30pm at Ama-wire Junction

He said the two of them were returning to their residence when they were confronted by the alleged armed robbers numbering about four confronted them and demanded their phones.

MacDonald said he quickly gave them his but his friend Uwaoma refused which led to them struggling for the phone and subsequently Uwaoma was shot in the chest

MacDonald said, “We were returning home from where we went to buy food. Suddenly, four boys bearing arms stopped and asked us to surrender our phones. I quickly gave them mine, but Ekene (Uwaoma) refused to surrender his phone

“They started struggling and I ran away. They shot him on the chest and ran away. They also shot into the air to scare people away.”

MacDonald disclosed that the corps member was rushed to the Federal Medical Centre, Owerri, where doctors confirmed him dead.

Uwaoma graduated from the department of History in Imo State University in 2016 and hails from Umudo-Anara, in the Isiala Mbano Local Government Area of the state
